FLUID is a filmmaker-led production company based in Copenhagen, with roots in the independent film world in Los Angeles. Before FLUID became focused on documentary storytelling for brands and organizations, we spent years developing and producing feature films and independent documentaries.
Independent filmmaking taught us to stay resourceful, assemble the right team for each production, adapt when circumstances change, and make deliberate choices about where time and resources matter most.
Documentary filmmaking taught us something different: to listen closely, stay open to what we discover, and find the story in real people and real situations rather than forcing them into a predetermined shape. We bring that same storytelling experience to every client project, starting with the subject, and letting the story determine the format.
We keep FLUID deliberately small at its core and build each production around what the film needs. Some stories call for just one or two filmmakers working closely with a subject, keeping the process unobtrusive and agile. Others require expanded crews, multiple camera teams, or coordination with local crews across different countries. The team can grow with the project while the process stays close, collaborative, and filmmaker-led.
Alonso Mayo / Director & Producer
Originally from Peru, Alonso is a director, writer, and producer with a background spanning independent film, documentary, and commercial work. He studied film at the University of Lima and received his MFA in Directing from the American Film Institute, where his thesis film Wednesday Afternoon won the Student Academy Award. He later wrote and directed the feature films The Story of Luke and FIXED, as well as the independent documentaries Transformations and Ms. Liz’s Allies.
Alongside his filmmaking work, Alonso has taught screenwriting at The New School and NYU. Today he leads FLUID’s client projects from Copenhagen, bringing his experience in story development, directing, and production to documentary films for brands and organizations.
Nina Leidersdorff / Producer
Nina is a producer with extensive experience across feature film, television, documentary, and commercial production in Denmark and the United States. A graduate of the University of Copenhagen and the Producing Program at the American Film Institute, she has worked as a producer, production manager, and line producer on productions ranging from small independent films to major international television series.
Her credits include producing The Story of Luke, FIXED, Viften, and the Netflix miniseries The Nurse, as well as consulting producer roles on series including Borgen and Ragnarok. Nina now works primarily in the Danish feature film and television industry while remaining closely involved with FLUID as a producer and advisor.

Ms. Liz’s Allies
After her fourth-grade students began asking what they could do in response to the social and political events unfolding around them, teacher Liz Kleinrock developed a classroom curriculum around allies, advocates, and bystanders. Filmed over several weeks as the lessons unfold, the documentary follows Liz and her students as they wrestle with difficult questions and begin turning what they learn into action. The film was later featured by NPR’s TED Radio Hour. (10 min.)
Independent Feature Film
The Story of Luke
A comedy-drama about Luke, a young autistic man who lived a sheltered life until the sudden death of his grandmother. Armed with his grandfather’s advice to get a job, find a girl, and build a life of his own, Luke sets out on a funny and unexpectedly moving quest for independence. The film won Best Film and Audience Awards at more than a dozen festivals and is available on Amazon and Apple TV. (Trailer, 01:48)

Transformations
In Kansas, a group of drag performers take local straight men under their wing and prepare them to go full drag for a charity gala. The film steps inside a world of performance, mentorship, and unexpected encounters between people who might otherwise never have shared the same stage. Transformations premiered at DOC NYC and won Best Short Documentary at the Kansas City LGBT Film Festival. (39 min.)
