Arturia is a French music technology company that creates hardware synthesizers, controllers, software instruments, and effects for musicians and producers. Its ongoing Artist Stories series focuses on the people using those tools, with each episode exploring an artist’s creative process, workflow, and relationship with a particular Arturia product.
Since 2023, we’ve worked with Arturia to produce Artist Stories across Europe and beyond, growing into a filmmaking partnership that has now reached more than 30 films. Released and promoted through Arturia’s own channels, the films have collectively surpassed 8 million views on YouTube.

Building a Partnership
The relationship began with a single commission in Copenhagen: an Artist Story with Danish musician Trentemøller. The film led to another commission in Los Angeles, followed by shoots in Stockholm, Paris, and London.
What started as a series of individual commissions gradually became a recurring collaboration with shoots across Europe and North America, profiling musicians, producers, and engineers across a wide range of genres and disciplines.
A Consistent Voice, Different Stories
As the partnership grew, we worked with Arturia to develop a consistent filmmaking language within the Artist Stories format. A shared approach to interviews, demonstrations, observational footage, and the environments around each artist helps give the films a recognizable visual rhythm, while leaving room for every subject and location to bring its own character.
The aim isn’t to impose the same tone on every artist. It’s to create enough continuity that the films belong together as Arturia Artist Stories, while letting personality, environment, music, and the unexpected shape each story on its own terms. That continuity comes from a shared understanding of the format, developed and refined through the ongoing partnership.
Working Across Borders
The partnership has taken us across Europe and beyond to film artists, but when travel isn’t practical for a particular project, we work with local filmmakers instead. In places like Los Angeles and New York, that means trusted filmmaking partners we’ve worked with across multiple projects; elsewhere, we build a crew around the needs of the individual shoot.
When we assemble a local crew, we identify and vet filmmakers and brief them on the format and production approach. After the shoot, the footage is delivered back to us for post-production, allowing the films to come together through the same editorial process.
To support this workflow, we developed detailed production guidelines covering the shared visual and technical approach, from interviews and product demonstrations to B-roll and environmental footage. The goal is not to make every production identical, but to give everyone a common framework that helps preserve the continuity of the series across locations.
An Evolving Collaboration
Over time, the partnership has expanded beyond the core Artist Stories format. Some projects have added companion performance films, giving artists space to perform in a more expressive, visually driven format, while others have grown into larger product-launch documentaries involving multiple artists and locations.
After dozens of films, the value of the partnership is not a fixed formula. It is a shared filmmaking language that can adapt to different artists, locations, production realities, and stories without starting from scratch each time.
