Arturia: Trentemøller & MicroFreak

As part of music hardware & software company Arturia’s “Artist Stories” video series, we were commissioned to produce a short documentary about Copenhagen-based composer & producer Trentemøller. The film is both a profile of Trentemøller and what drives his musical explorations, as well as a demo of how he specifically uses Arturia’s MicroFreak synthesizer, along with a range of other tools, to help him craft his unique blend of lo-fi sounds.

We shot the film in Trentemøller’s recording studio, showcasing his incredible collection of vintage effect pedals, synthesizers, and recording equipment. We used a minimalist cinematic style with smooth slider and gimbal shots and a handheld look for the interviews and demos. The whole project was shot in a short day with a 2-person crew using cinema primes and zooms and was graded with a vintage film look.

You can read more about the project on Arturia’s website or visit Trentemøller’s site to hear more of his amazing music.

Part of an ongoing collaboration with Arturia where we profile musicians from around the world.
